Are you an electronic or mechanical technician who takes real pride in getting every repair right the first time?

We're looking for a Technician on behalf of a well-established South African manufacturer and distributor of gate motors, access control, and electronic security equipment, with a branch based in Port Elizabeth. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term technical career with a company that manufactures the products it services.

This role sits at the heart of the branch's day-to-day operation. You'll be responsible for the mechanical and electronic testing and repair of the full range of products the company supports, while also being the first point of contact for clients who need technical support: whether that's over the phone, at the counter, or through live chat and email tickets. If you're equally comfortable with a soldering iron in hand and a customer on the line, this role was built for you.

What you'll be doing:

  • You'll maintain a friendly, organised, and professional customer service environment at all times, ensuring client queries are handled accurately and courteously.

  • You'll be hands-on with the mechanical and electronic testing and repair of all products supported by the branch, making sure every unit is returned to its original working condition and to the company's quality standard.

  • You'll log all failures thoroughly so the quality department at head office receives useful, consistent feedback, and you'll contribute ideas that help improve product reliability and service processes over time.

  • You'll keep SAP, CRM, service reports, and repair records fully up to date within the prescribed timelines, and you'll respond to technical support queries across all contact channels, including calls, live chat, and email tickets, within the required service level agreements.

  • You'll also be available for reasonable overtime, after-hours support, weekend shifts, and stock-take activities when operational demands require it.

What we're looking for:

  • You should be in possession of, or currently studying towards, an N3 or S2 qualification in Electronic, Mechanical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

  • You'll need a solid understanding of electronic concepts and demonstrated practical fault-finding and repair ability, along with a genuine willingness to build deep product knowledge of the company's full range.

  • Strong computer literacy and professional verbal and written communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical customers.

  • You'll take ownership of problems through to resolution, work reliably and punctually, and collaborate well with a small, close-knit branch team.

If you're ready to bring your technical skill and customer-first attitude to a company that manufactures what it repairs, we'd like to hear from you.
