An established South African engineering and manufacturing business with a history spanning more than five decades is looking to appoint a Senior Technical Sales Manager to drive growth across its strategic customer base.



 



The organisation designs, manufactures, and delivers critical infrastructure solutions that support utilities, telecommunications, power, renewable energy, and large-scale industrial projects throughout Southern Africa. Their products play a key role in enabling connectivity, electrification, and infrastructure development across the region.

The Opportunity



 



As Senior Technical Sales Manager , you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities while managing and expanding relationships with key customers, contractors, consulting engineers, utilities, and project stakeholders.



 



This role combines technical sales, commercial negotiation, tender management, and strategic account development, providing exposure to some of the region's most significant infrastructure projects.



 



You will work closely with engineering, production, finance, and project delivery teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into successful commercial outcomes.



 



Key Responsibilities




  • Drive business development and identify new revenue opportunities across assigned territories and sectors.

  • Build and maintain relationships with utilities, EPC contractors, consulting engineers, municipalities, telecommunications providers, and industrial clients.

  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation through to quotation, negotiation, award, and project handover.

  • Prepare and manage commercial proposals, tenders, quotations, and contract submissions.

  • Develop strategic account plans to grow market share and increase customer retention.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, industry developments, and project pipelines.

  • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to clients and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure exceptional customer service and project execution.

  • Travel regularly to customer sites, project locations, and industry events.



 



What We're Looking For




  • Minimum 10 years' experience in technical sales, business development, or account management within engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities, telecommunications, construction, or related sectors.

  • Proven ability to win new business and manage long-term client relationships.

  • Experience managing tenders, quotations, commercial negotiations, and contract discussions.

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure project environments and stakeholder management.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Self-driven individual capable of working independently while collaborating across multiple business functions.

  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical or Civil/Structural) would be highly advantageous.
