Enterprise Architect – Supply Chain



Summary of Role



The role acts as a trusted advisor and architectural authority, accountable for ensuring that Supply Chain capability areas function as a single, connected, and efficient ecosystem rather than operating as isolated functional silos.



Key Responsibilities



Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Ownership




  • Own and evolve the Enterprise Architecture vision and strategy for the Supply Chain function.

  • Define and maintain target architectures and transition roadmaps to guide transformation initiatives.

  • Ensure architectural coherence and consistency across programs, products, and platforms.



Architecture Principles, Standards & Governance




  • Define, communicate, and enforce Enterprise Architecture principles and standards.

  • Act as an architectural authority, governing solution designs and key technology decisions.

  • Ensure new systems integrate smoothly into the enterprise landscape and support long-term business objectives.



Business Transformation & Value Enablement




  • Lead enterprise-level architectural thinking for Supply Chain transformation, grounded in a deep understanding of operational processes and their impact on commercial outcomes.

  • Advise senior stakeholders on architectural trade-offs, risks, and opportunities.

  • Drive simplification of the application and data landscape to improve agility, resilience, service levels, and cost efficiency.



Investment Protection & Delivery Alignment




  • Provide architectural assurance and due diligence for major initiatives.

  • Reduce enterprise risk by ensuring alignment with approved architectures and roadmaps.

  • Collaborate with Agile and SAFe delivery teams to ensure architecture is actionable and supports effective execution.



Qualifications and Experience




  • Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification.

  • Extensive Enterprise Architecture experience, with a proven track record as an Enterprise Architect within large-scale, complex FMCG/CPG organisations.

  • Ability to operate at enterprise and executive level, translating complex technical integrations into business value and influencing business and IT decisions.

  • Deep Supply Chain and business domain knowledge.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain processes and industry best practices, including:

    • Demand Planning and Forecasting

    • Supply Planning and S&OP / Integrated Business Planning (IBP)

    • Procurement and Supplier Collaboration

    • Manufacturing and Production Operations

    • Inventory Management and Optimisation

    • Warehouse Management

    • Transportation and Logistics

    • Distribution and Customer Fulfilment

    • Supply Chain Performance Management

    • Sustainability and Circular Supply Chain initiatives



  • Proven experience designing and governing architectures across a multi-vendor landscape.

  • Experience with the following technology stack is highly desirable:

    • SAP S/4HANA

    • SAP EWM

    • SAP TMS

    • Blue Yonder

    • IoT Platforms



  • Deep knowledge of modern data architecture, integration patterns, and API-led connectivity.

  • Working understanding of practical AI applications.

  • Strong user experience (UX) awareness and sensibility.

  • Familiarity with TOGAF, applied pragmatically across principles, target states, roadmaps, and governance.
