Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineering Lead to support the development, delivery, and operation of large-scale data centre and critical infrastructure projects.
This senior technical position acts as the electrical subject matter expert across the project lifecycle, supporting site selection, engineering design, construction delivery, commissioning, and operational activities. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, utility providers, and customers to ensure projects are delivered safely, reliably, and in line with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Site Assessment & Feasibility
- Support technical evaluations of prospective development sites.
- Assess power availability, grid connection opportunities, and overall electrical infrastructure suitability.
- Review technical due diligence studies and specialist reports.
- Identify key project risks, development constraints, and infrastructure-related considerations.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Lead electrical engineering coordination throughout design and delivery phases.
- Review engineering designs, technical specifications, and consultant deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, project requirements, and operational objectives.
- Manage technical queries, design changes, and engineering risks.
- Support the development of reliable, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure solutions.
Construction, Commissioning & Operations
- Provide technical guidance during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Support project teams in resolving electrical and critical power system challenges.
- Participate in design reviews, factory witness testing, and commissioning activities where required.
- Contribute to operational readiness and long-term asset performance strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, utility companies, and equipment vendors.
- Facilitate technical reviews and project coordination meetings.
- Communicate project risks, issues, and mitigation strategies effectively.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, technical standards, and lessons-learned processes.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Typically 5+ years' experience within data centre infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting projects through design, , construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
- Strong understanding of critical electrical infrastructure, including:
- Utility power systems
- HV/LV distribution
- Transformers
- Switchgear
- UPS systems
- Standby power generation
- Critical power distribution networks
- Strong stakeholder management and technical coordination capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
