Business Platforms Engineer



Our client is a well-established South African manufacturer with a global footprint, exporting to over 70 countries and operating out of our own production facility in the west of Johannesburg. Their products are recognised across the country and trusted internationally - and they've been building on that foundation for nearly four decades. They're not a services business that rises and falls with contracts. They build things, and build them to last. As they continue to invest in how the business uses data and technology, they're looking for a Business Platforms Engineer to own that agenda internally.



About the role:




  • This is not a support function. You'll own the full lifecycle of our internal business platforms: from configuration and development through to ongoing optimisation and maintenance. That means Zoho One (CRM, Desk, Analytics, and related modules), Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, custom dashboards, and bespoke internal applications.

  • You'll shape how the business runs its reporting, its automation layer, and its data infrastructure - and the output of your work will be visible across Sales, Finance, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Technical Support.

  • On any given week you might be building an executive dashboard, configuring a Zoho workflow, tightening document management in SharePoint, or automating a process that's currently eating someone's time.

  • The scope is broad, the mandate is real, and you'll report into an Enterprise Solutions & Engineering Manager who understands what you do.



What you'll be doing:




  • Owning the design, development, customisation, and maintenance of internal business platforms including Zoho One, Power BI, SharePoint, and custom-built applications. Building interactive dashboards, management reports, and data visualisations that translate complex datasets into clear, actionable business insights.

  • Analysing large datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and delivering both self-service and standardised reporting capabilities across the business. Configuring and administering the full Zoho One suite — workflows, automations, user roles, permissions, modules, and integrations.

  • Developing and administering SharePoint environments including sites, document libraries, collaboration portals, permissions structures, and content management within Microsoft 365. Implementing and maintaining system integrations, data exchanges, and process automations across platforms to ensure seamless data flow and operational efficiency.

  • Maintaining high standards of data accuracy, integrity, and security across all platforms and reporting outputs. Providing ongoing support and maintaining clear documentation and best-practice standards for all platforms and tools.



What we're looking for:




  • A relevant degree or diploma in Information Systems, Informatics, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

  • A minimum of three years' hands-on experience in software development or business application development, with proven ownership of internal platforms or low-code solutions.

  • Practical experience administering and customising Zoho One or an equivalent low-code CRM/ERP platform — including workflows, automations, modules, user roles, permissions, and integrations.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including site administration, document libraries, permissions, and content management.

  • Strong data analysis and reporting capability, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into clear business insights.

  • Experience with APIs, webhooks, and cross-platform integrations. Advanced Microsoft Excel competency and good written and verbal communication skills.
