Associate Director – Mechanical (Data Centres)

A leading, fast-growing engineering consultancy specialising in hyperscale data centres and mission-critical infrastructure is seeking an experienced Associate Director – Mechanical to join its expanding team.
This is an exciting leadership role offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data centre projects across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, delivering innovative, high-performance engineering solutions for global clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical engineering discipline across multiple projects
- Oversee HVAC, public health, and fire protection system design delivery
- Ensure technical excellence, compliance, and quality across all outputs
- Drive engineering standards, design optimisation, and value engineering initiatives
- Manage, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Collaborate with electrical, structural, BIM, and architectural teams
- Support project planning, resource management, and delivery timelines
- Provide site support, inspections, and commissioning input
- Contribute to client engagement, proposals, and business growth
Requirements
- 15+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering
- Proven leadership in data centres OR mission-critical infrastructure projects
- Strong expertise in:
- HVAC systems & thermal design
- Chilled water & precision cooling systems
- International standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA)
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
- Professional certification (CEng / PE or equivalent preferred)
Willingness to travel for key stakeholder engagement as require
Desirable Experience
- Hyperscale data centre project delivery
- Sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions
- Advanced tools (Revit, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, CFD)
- Client-facing leadership roles in international environments
