In recent years, cloud has become more and more prominent in every walk of life. So much so that it plays a part in almost every industry, in one way or another. One area however, which is yet to make the leap is software development.

The gap is sure to be filled with Amazon’s AWS to name one major player already staking its place in the competition after their recent acquisition of Cloud9. Huawei have seconded this opportunity with heavy investment in developments since the beginning of 2017, with Ericsson following suit with the recent acquisition of a number of Verizon’s cloud businesses. This increase in action has created huge demand for a skilled workforce, and as developments continue, this demand will only increase in what is sure to bring more opportunities for budding developers looking to get in on the action and be part of the new movement in what is already a $6 billion industry.

WHAT SORT OF SALARIES COULD YOU EXPECT?

For those looking to benefit financially, the rewards are substantial. For example according to Payscale, a senior solutions architect can be expected to earn around $132,000 compared to the more junior position of solutions architect bringing in around $120,000, a very healthy amount with the potential to earn more depending on experience and interview outcomes. The majority of cloud development roles carry attractive wages, all with the potential to increase substantially with experience and expertise. And with a huge number of major names investing their efforts into the industry there are huge gains to be made.
